\u201cThere are flight feathers that are made for flying, contour feathers that cover the body to protect it from water and sunlight, soft, fluffy down feathers that make the bird look fluffy and keep it warm by trapping air, and semi-plumes that keep the bird warm and help it fly and mate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thompson also said, \u201cMost of the time, it\u2019s easy to understand how a feather works, but sometimes it\u2019s not clear, and we need a scientific study to fill in the picture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
